Takedowns
- Double-Leg TakedownfundamentalChange levels, penetrate, and drive through both legs to put the opponent on their back.
- Single-Leg TakedownfundamentalCapture one leg with the head outside, then run the pipe or trip to finish on top.
- Ankle PickintermediateSnap the opponent onto a leg, then change levels and pick the ankle to put them down.
- Duck UnderintermediateChange levels and slip your head under the opponent’s arm to take their back.
- High CrotchintermediateA penetrating attack to the inner thigh with the head up on the inside, lifting one leg to finish.
- Fireman's CarryintermediateDrop under a tie, load the opponent across your shoulders and roll them to the mat.
- Hip TossintermediateTurn in, load the opponent over your hip and throw them to the mat.
- Knee PickfundamentalSteer the opponent past you and pick the knee to drop them straight to the mat.
- Outside TripintermediateOff-balance the opponent and reap their leg from the outside to trip them onto their back.
Defense
Front Headlock
- Snap DownfundamentalUse a collar tie to snap the opponent face-down, then circle to the front headlock or back.
- Front HeadlockfundamentalControl the head and an arm after a stuffed shot, then spin behind for the go-behind or attack.
- Arm DragintermediateGrip the wrist and triceps and drag the opponent past you to take their back.
Top & Pinning
- Spiral RidefundamentalFrom the top, grab the far arm and near hip and drive in a corkscrew to flatten the opponent.
- Half NelsonfundamentalThread an arm under the opponent’s arm to the back of the neck and turn them to their back.
- CradleintermediateTrap the head and a knee, lock your hands and ball the opponent up onto their back.
- Gut WrenchintermediateLock your hands around the waist and arch to roll the opponent over for exposure (freestyle).
Escapes & Reversals
- Stand-UpfundamentalBuild to your feet with hand control, clear the hips and turn in to escape to neutral.
- Sit-OutfundamentalKick a leg through and sit to your hip to create space, then turn in to face the opponent.
- SwitchintermediateReach back over the opponent’s arm and sit through to spin around to the top position.
- Granby RolladvancedInvert and roll over your shoulder, away from the opponent, to come up free or behind them.
