- 4 steps
Use a collar tie to snap the opponent face-down, then circle to the front headlock or back. Also known as the Snap or the Snapdown to front headlock. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 4 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.
Step by step
- 01
Engage
Square up in your stance, ready to tie up.
- 02
Collar tie & pressure
Take a collar tie behind the neck and apply downward pressure to feel their reaction.
- 03
Snap the head down
Pull the head sharply down and toward the mat as you step back, breaking their posture forward onto their hands.
- 04
Front headlock & go-behind
Catch the head and an arm in a front headlock, keep your weight heavy and circle to the back.
Key details
- Snap on a beat, time it as they push into you for maximum effect.
- Step your feet back as you snap so your weight, not just your arm, drives them down.
- Get to the head-and-arm front headlock immediately to prevent the re-stand.
Common mistakes
- Pulling only with the arm while standing still.
- Snapping straight down so they can re-post and stand back up.
- Failing to control an arm, letting them scramble back to neutral.
