  • 3 steps

Feed both hands deep into the collars from mount and drop your weight to finish the strangle. Also known as the Mounted X-choke. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 3 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Establish mount

Stay high and heavy in mount.

  2. 02

    Feed the grips

Thread both hands deep into opposite collars, thumbs in, palms up.

  3. 03

    Drop your weight & finish

Pull the elbows down and to the mat and drop your chest to close the choke on both sides of the neck.

Key details

  • Get the first grip deep behind the neck before the second.
  • Pull the elbows down and out, dropping chest weight forward.
  • Keep your base wide so you are not rolled while choking.

Common mistakes

  • Shallow grips that only press the jaw.
  • Sitting upright instead of dropping the weight.
  • Posting both hands and getting bucked off.
