- Mount
- 3 steps
Using a sleeve grip behind the neck and the other forearm across the throat, saw the choke closed. Also known as the Sode guruma jime or the Sleeve choke. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 3 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.
Step by step
- 01
Establish mount
Stay heavy and tight in mount.
- 02
Thread the sleeve & forearm
Slide one hand behind their neck, grip your other sleeve, and lay that forearm across the throat.
- 03
Saw & finish
Draw the bottom hand back and the forearm in, sawing the blade of the wrist across the throat to finish.
Key details
- Get the first hand deep behind the neck for the anchor.
- Use the blade of the wrist across the throat, not the flat forearm.
- Stay heavy in mount so the choke has a base.
Common mistakes
- A loose sleeve grip that gives no leverage.
- Pressing the forearm flat instead of the wrist edge.
- Posturing up and losing mount while choking.
