    Wait for the post

    When the opponent posts a hand on the mat near your hip, it is exposed for the kimura.

    Trap the wrist

    Grab their posted wrist with your opposite-side hand, pinning it to the mat.

    Sit up & figure-four

    Sit up to the side, thread your free arm over their trapped arm and grab your own gripping wrist.

    Rotate the shoulder

    Fall back to your side, keep the elbow tight to their body and rotate their wrist up behind their back to finish.

Key details

  • Trap the wrist with your cross-side hand so the figure-four can complete.
  • Keep their elbow glued to their ribs as you rotate, distance lets them escape.
  • Sit up to create the angle before you try to turn the shoulder.
