- 4 steps
Trap a posted arm, figure-four the wrist and rotate the shoulder to finish. Also known as the Double wristlock or the Ude-garami. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 4 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.
Step by step
- 01
Wait for the post
When the opponent posts a hand on the mat near your hip, it is exposed for the kimura.
- 02
Trap the wrist
Grab their posted wrist with your opposite-side hand, pinning it to the mat.
- 03
Sit up & figure-four
Sit up to the side, thread your free arm over their trapped arm and grab your own gripping wrist.
- 04
Rotate the shoulder
Fall back to your side, keep the elbow tight to their body and rotate their wrist up behind their back to finish.
Key details
- Trap the wrist with your cross-side hand so the figure-four can complete.
- Keep their elbow glued to their ribs as you rotate, distance lets them escape.
- Sit up to create the angle before you try to turn the shoulder.
Common mistakes
- Reaching for the figure-four before pinning the wrist.
- Letting the trapped elbow drift away from their body.
- Cranking the wrist without first taking the slack out of the shoulder.
