Wedge the blade of your forearm into the crook of their elbow and curl their wrist to crush the biceps against the bone. Also known as the Biceps slicer or the Arm crush. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 3 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Trap the arm

From the back, isolate one arm and figure-four around it so the elbow is bent over your forearm.

Bicep Slicer step 1 of 3: Trap the arm
  2. 02

    Insert the blade

Drive the bony edge of your forearm (the radius) deep into the crook of their bent elbow.

Bicep Slicer step 2 of 3: Insert the blade
  3. 03

    Curl & compress

Curl their wrist toward their shoulder, folding the joint over your forearm to compress the biceps, apply slowly.

Bicep Slicer step 3 of 3: Curl & compress

Key details

  • Bend their elbow fully, a slicer needs a closed joint angle, not a straight arm.
  • Use the sharp edge of the forearm bone, not the soft belly of the muscle.
  • Curl the wrist in to close the angle; the compression does the work, not strength.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the arm straighten, which turns it into a weak armbar instead.
  • Padding the wedge with the fleshy forearm so there is no bite.
  • Cranking explosively, slicers injure fast with little warning.
