Use a collar tie to snap the opponent face-down, then circle to the front headlock or back. Also known as the Snap or the Snapdown to front headlock. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 4 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.

## When to use it

Use the snap down when the opponent leans into your collar tie or pushes forward with their head low. Wait for them to push into you, then snap on that beat. It works well right after they have shot and are still bent over.

## Step by step

1. 01

   ### Engage

Square up in your stance, ready to tie up.

2. 02

   ### Collar tie & pressure

Take a collar tie behind the neck and apply downward pressure to feel their reaction.

3. 03

   ### Snap the head down

Pull the head sharply down and toward the mat as you step back, breaking their posture forward onto their hands.

4. 04

   ### Front headlock & go-behind

Catch the head and an arm in a front headlock, keep your weight heavy and circle to the back.

## Key details

- Snap on a beat. Time it as they push into you for maximum effect.
- Step your feet back as you snap so your weight, not just your arm, drives them down.
- Get to the head-and-arm front headlock immediately to prevent the re-stand.

## Common mistakes

- Pulling only with the arm while standing still.
- Snapping straight down so they can re-post and stand back up.
- Failing to control an arm, letting them scramble back to neutral.

## Common counters

Opponents keep their posture, square their hips and step forward so they never fall onto their hands. Some shoot under the snap as their head comes down. Step back as you snap and catch the head straight away.

## How to drill it

From collar ties, your partner pushes into you on your call and you snap them to their hands, then circle to the back. Do three rounds of two minutes, alternating sides every rep.
