- Tie-up
- 3 steps

Grip the wrist and triceps and drag the opponent past you to take their back. Also known as the Drag to the back. Here is the exact breakdown from the DARCE app: 3 steps, the details that make it work, and the mistakes to avoid.

## When to use it

Use the arm drag when the opponent reaches for a tie or pushes with a straight arm. Grab the wrist and triceps as the arm comes in. It works best when they lean forward.

## Step by step

1. 01

   ### Tie up

Engage and find an arm to attack.

2. 02

   ### Drag the arm across

Grab the wrist and triceps, pull the arm hard across your body and step to the outside as they turn.

3. 03

   ### Take the back

Follow the drag to their back and lock your hands at the waist.

## Key details

- Control both the wrist and the triceps for a tight drag.
- Pull across your body and step off the line at the same time.
- Get to the back and lock hands before they can re-face you.

## Common mistakes

- Dragging with one grip and letting the arm slip.
- Pulling straight back instead of across.
- Standing still instead of stepping to the angle.

## Common counters

Opponents pull the arm back, turn to face you, or step their leg across to block. A one-handed drag slips. Grip both points and step to the angle at the same time.

## How to drill it

Your partner reaches for a collar tie: drag the arm, step to the angle and lock your hands at their waist. Do three sets of ten on each side.
